Keeping in touch

Farewell Colac - see you in Winter!!

Thursday 13th February 2025.   And so, we were off - eventually. After a bit of a rushed final pack (of course!!), Janine, our chauffeur, calmly set off for Colac Station but then came a panic return to home for "someone's" suit.  Fortunately, Anne-Marie was waiting to help speedily transfer our luggage to the platform as we were cutting it fine for the 4.30pm train to Melbourne.  But then we had to wait. As it was a Total Fire-ban day with a temp of 33 degrees (interesting in itself as we would be heading for a balmy 6-degree day in London the next day!!), the trains were running on a hot weather timetable.  We eventually boarded the train just after 5pm and, after a fairly uneventful trip, were greeted by Daniel and Martha at Footscray Station.  A little shopping expedition to stock up for supplies for the flight that we eventually did not need.  Back to Moonee Ponds for a yummy tea, interspersed with all the last-minute travel tips and w...

So .... where are we off to this time???

Our long-awaited trip is about to happen!!  And another MODRA ADVENTURE will unfold!! Initially, John and I were interested in a small group 3-4 week tour to the Wendish Heritage places in NE Germany/NW Poland scheduled for April 2025.  Each of the participants on this specially-designed  bus tour would visit the little villages their forebears left when they headed, under persecution, for Australia in the 1850s.   Then, the opportunity arose for John to attend the ARC Conference in London - the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship, a kind of conservative think-tank - the only problem being that this was mid-February.  And this arrangement would mean that we'd be going into a European Winter.  But, we figured that, since we live in Colac, we can "do cold" quite well.   Well, we haven't been on one of our Aussie roadtrips for a year or two, so we figured we'd have a go at a British roadtrip!!  The plan being to spend Week 1 in London arou...
